Thinking of moving our daughter from CBSE to Tulasi High School for class 4

cobalt_pigeon_5069

Our daughter's current school is forty minutes each way from Motinagar. Tulasi High School in Mehdipatnam is much closer, but it is State Board and she has only ever done CBSE. She's in class 3 now. I can't settle it either way. The closer school would save her more than an hour of travel every day. On the other hand, I'm not sure how a switch in class 4 goes, especially with Telugu, which she has only done at a basic level so far. I also don't know whether it makes things harder later if she wants to go back to CBSE for class 11. If anyone has children at Tulasi, or has made a similar switch around this age, I'd like to hear how it went.

Has she done Telugu as second language or third? That makes a big difference for a class 4 joiner in State Board.

Third language, so only reading and simple sentences. That's the part I'm least sure about.

we looked at a few state board schools on that side when our two were starting nursery. didn't visit tulasi, so nothing to say about it specifically. the one thing i'd ask any school is how they handle a joiner who's behind in telugu. whether there's support, or they just expect you to arrange tuition. the answer told us a lot

And on my class 11 worry from the post: I asked a colleague whose son did State Board till 10 and then CBSE, and she said it was a non-issue for them. One family, but it helps.

That's a good question to put to them directly. I'll add it to the list for when we visit.
