Registering at five preschools 'to be safe'. Is that what everyone does now?

apricot_pigeon_3102

Our son will be ready for preschool next June. Two mothers from my daughter's class told me they registered at four or five places each, paid the registration fee everywhere, and dropped the ones that didn't work out. None of those fees come back. I'd rather shortlist two properly and visit both. Is that naive around Financial District and Gachibowli, or do seats in the youngest classes really go that fast?

We registered at three for our daughter and ended up at the first one we'd liked anyway, so two fees were wasted. In hindsight two would have been fine, but at the time it felt like insurance. I'd ask your first choice directly how full last year's batch got, and when.

Our son went to the preschool down the road because it was down the road. Twenty years later nobody remembers which one it was. Visit two and pick.
