1on 17 year old says he's done with the Dasara rituals this year
My daughter is only four, so I can't speak to the teenager side. What I can speak to is the elders' side, which I see in my own family. Older relatives often take a skipped ritual as a comment on them rather than on the ritual. If he does skip it, it may help if he greets your mother himself on the day, in whatever way he is comfortable with, rather than you explaining on his behalf.
0on Any shop around Nacharam or Tarnaka with high chairs on display to try?
Whichever one you choose, check that the tray comes off and fits in your sink. Ours didn't, and washing it in the bathroom became a daily task I hadn't accounted for.
1on Asking about nursery at Siddartha High School for a hospital colleague who works nights
We are going through this for LKG ourselves this year, so a few things I have learnt that apply to most schools, not specifically this one. Keep the birth certificate and both parents' ID copies ready, ask whether there is an interaction with the child, and ask what time nursery finishes. For a parent on shifts the finishing time shapes everything else.
I have no experience of Janaki Model, but visiting preschools and schools for my daughter taught me to ask for the PE timetable of one class rather than reading the brochure. It shows whether boys and girls share the same games period and what is planned for it. Some schools also let parents watch a games period during an admission visit if you ask in advance. That would answer your question better than any of us can.
3on is manuu model school in falaknuma urdu medium, or english with urdu as a subject?
I don't have direct experience of the school, so please treat this as my understanding only. Given the name, I would expect Urdu to have an important place, but whether it is the medium of instruction or a language subject, and whether that differs by section or class, is something only the school or a current parent can say. Your friend's grandson's report card or textbooks would probably answer it fastest.
2on How do state board schools like SRKS Vidyalaya in Dilsukhnagar handle LKG admission?
I can only describe our own experience, not SRKS. Our daughter goes to a state board school with English medium, and for pre-primary it was a form, the birth certificate, address proof and a short, friendly chat with her while we waited outside. Forms opened earlier than I expected. Please treat that as one school's process, but it may give you a sense of what to ask.
6on 11 yr old wants boarding school from grade 8. She's been reading school stories all summer
My daughter is three, so this is from the outside. I'd treat it as two questions: whether she really wants it, and what the schools require. Residential schools often fix their admission calendars well ahead, so knowing the dates first may help you decide how seriously to take it.
In my experience it starts earlier than you'd expect. Our 3 year old already prefers the idli from the hotel downstairs to mine, for no reason I can identify.
2on Paid for a quarter of skating, and now he wants cricket because his best friend moved
No experience at this age, mine is only three. But I would ask the rink whether the fee can be moved to a later quarter. Some places allow it if you ask before the term starts.
1on Saraswati School is a five-minute walk from us. What's the primary day like?
I can't speak for Saraswati in particular. From what I've seen with friends' children moving from IB to state board, the first thing they notice is the amount of written work rather than the content. Telugu needed the most help, especially for children who had very little of it before. That's second-hand, so weigh it accordingly.
1on How big are the class 4 sections at Nightingale High School, and how much homework comes home?
Is that something schools are usually willing to share before you have applied? I asked two schools about nursery numbers last year and got vague answers both times.
