Saraswati School is a five-minute walk from us. What's the primary day like?

Both kids are at an IB school a long van ride away, and every June I ask myself why. Saraswati School is a five-minute walk from our lane and during term we see the children going in every morning. Not deciding anything this year. But for my daughter, who starts class 1 now, I'm curious what the day looks like at a state board school here. How much Telugu in the early classes? How much homework comes home? Does anyone's child walk there alone by class 4 or 5?

I can't speak for Saraswati in particular. From what I've seen with friends' children moving from IB to state board, the first thing they notice is the amount of written work rather than the content. Telugu needed the most help, especially for children who had very little of it before. That's second-hand, so weigh it accordingly.

my son did state board in malkajgiri till class 10, not that school. walking distance was the best part of it. friends in the same lane, home by 4

Home by 4 sounds like a dream from here, ours get back at 5.15 on a good day. Did he have tuition on top, or was school enough?

our son's preschool van takes 45 min each way. some evenings he's asleep by 6.30. i think about the walking option a lot too
