11 yr old wants boarding school from grade 8. She's been reading school stories all summer

Every book she read in the holidays had a boarding school in it. Now she wants us to look at residential schools for next year. Not unhappy where she is. Just wants 'the dorm life'. How seriously do we take this? And when do these schools even take applications for grade 8?

My 14 yr old had this exact phase at 11. Midnight feasts. Ended when she found out about the 6 am bell 😂

My daughter is three, so this is from the outside. I'd treat it as two questions: whether she really wants it, and what the schools require. Residential schools often fix their admission calendars well ahead, so knowing the dates first may help you decide how seriously to take it.

Asked her. She described a Tuesday from a novel. Food fights. No homework mentioned 😄

      Replying to @lagoon_river_7111

Then take her to see one on a regular weekday, not an open day. Open days are a show.

Son's friend moved to one in grade 8. What surprised his parents most was how little contact they had in the first months. Fixed call times, twice a week. Ask about that.
