0on first haircut for a 1 year old near narsingi. barber, salon or just do it at home?
for my son's first one we went to one of those kids salons in a mall, the ones with a car seat and cartoons on a screen. he was older than yours though, closer to 2. what helped more than the car was going on a weekday morning when it was empty, no other kids crying in the next chair they were patient but it costs a lot more than a barber for ten minutes of work 🤷
0on Can you ask for extra time in a class 6 entrance test if your child has an assessment report?
we did this for our son last year for a class 5 admission. sent the report with the form even though there was no column for it. one school called us to talk before the test and gave him an extra 20 min. the other never replied and we didn't go there. can't say if it affected anything else, he got in at the first one
0on Granddaughter's tuition aunty writes the sums in pencil and she just goes over them
maybe watch one more time first. some tutors do the first sum as an example and the kid does the rest. if its the whole page every day then yes tell them
1on I teach at a university and my daughter would rather learn physics from YouTube
my partner is the same with maths. one question turns into a full chapter. my son asks me now even though i know less, because i stop once he's got it
0on Partner and son want a dog. I'm the one hesitating
my son begged for 2 years. we said fine if he walked the neighbours dog every evening for a month first. he lasted 9 days. topic closed for now
1on Nine papers in eight days for class 6 half-yearlies. How do you pace a 10 year old?
state board here class 5 and similar. we do max 2 subjects a day, one heavy one light. no new chapters in the last 3 days, only revising. he still panics before science but less than last year
3on son says his house team will lose every match because of a classmate on crutches
my son said almost the same thing last year about a girl in his class who is slow at running what worked a bit better than telling him off was asking him questions instead. what is she good at, who picks her when you choose teams, how would you feel if you were the last one picked every time. he got irritated and left the table. later that week he came back on his own and said she's the best at catching also i think the teacher putting everyone in is doing more than any talk at home will. maybe ask him after a couple of matches how the goalkeeper did
0on passing st anthony grammar in kushaiguda every day on a site job. class 1 next june?
himayatnagar to ecil every day at school time is a lot. we did 40 min each way for one year and moved her school the next. not saying don't, just do the drive at 7.30 first
0on grandson's homework is one letter written twenty times. he does four and starts drawing
finish the page is what the teacher will check so his mother has a point. but five neat ones beat twenty sloppy ones. could he do it in two sittings
3on Grandson examined me with his toy stethoscope and prescribed two chocolates after food
ours played doctor for a whole month and every patient got an injection no matter what. you got off lightly
1on Too early to visit Siva Sivani Talent School in KPHB when our son isn't one yet?
we visited three state board schools when our son was 2 and nobody thought it was odd. they mostly wanted to know which year we'd apply. state board nursery for us was rhymes letters lots of play nothing scary
1on Daycare charged the full fee for a month that had a two-week closure. Is that standard?
when my son was in daycare they charged half for closure weeks. it was written in. so a reduced fee does exist, depends on the place
0on indoor play place near himayatnagar for a 4 yr old on rainy weekends
i think a couple of the malls around abids have play areas on the top floor. avoid sunday after 4, packed. we went a lot when mine was that age, fine for an hour
1on Tamil is a graded subject for her from this year, and nobody at home reads Tamil
marathi at home, telugu in his state board school here. what worked for us was me learning alongside him with a basic alphabet book, badly. he loves correcting me and that made him read more carefully than any tuition did. three years in, his telugu is far better than mine and he reminds me of it daily
0on School has picked our 14 year old to mentor the new grade 6 kids. She's flattered and worried
my son was on the other end of this. he had a class 9 buddy in his first year at his school and he still talks about him. so for the small ones it matters a lot even if it's just once a week. no advice for the lunch break problem though
2on A real microscope for a 7 year old, not the plastic kind. Where around Banjara Hills?
bought one for my son two summers back. lenses were fine, the slides it came with broke in a week and nobody nearby sells replacements. whatever you buy get a box of plain slides with it 🤷
1on Took my 3 year old to Sunday badminton. Now she wants her own racquet
son started at 6 at a coaching centre and the coach said the ones who'd just played around at home with balloons picked it up faster than the ones who'd been taught grips early. so balloon is fine. also take her on court only for the first 15 min of your game, she'll last that long
4on are the nursery toilets near the classroom at prism in narsingi, and who takes the little ones?
our son's nursery toilet was at the end of a long corridor and the aaya took six kids at a time. he held it all morning for most of the first term and we only found out at the ptm. so yes ask who takes them, and whether they can go when they need to or only at fixed times
3on I fix fractures all day and still can't line up the snaps on his romper
my partner runs experiments for a living and still matches the bottom snap to the second one every single time 🤷
6on 13 year old is in charge of lunch on my office days, and has discovered the food app on my account
is it the money or the junk food? if it's the money, set a weekly limit on the app 🤷 also ask what the 7 yr old is eating while she decides
3on Class 1 report says 'not yet reading independently'. Do I do anything over the summer?
same story here at the end of class 1. no tuition, we just made him read the cricket scores and his comics to his grandfather every evening. by the middle of class 2 it clicked. i think reading what he liked mattered more than how much
2on His science task has taken over our kitchen. There are beans in every cup
Wait till they start to smell. Ours did moong in wet cotton and the whole flat knew by day four.
0on Our younger son reads better than his older brother, and the older one has noticed
our son was the slow reader at that age and only had cousins to compare with but it still bothered him. comics fixed it. he wouldn't touch a storybook but would read the same comic twenty times. reading is reading
we did exactly that. small playschool 5 min from home till LKG then moved him at UKG to a bigger school. the playschool years were easy, the move at 5 was harder than i expected. most of his new class had been together since nursery and he was the new one for a good few months. would still do it again because the short walk mattered more to us when he was 3
0on Last day of class 8, and he came home with the whole class's names on his school shirt
hand sanitiser takes some of it off. not all 🤷
