grandson's homework is one letter written twenty times. he does four and starts drawing

i do homework with him on the days he's at our place. it's one letter, a full page of it. the first few are neat. then the letters get faces, then legs. his mother says finish the page. i'm inclined to let him stop at five good ones. who's right

finish the page is what the teacher will check so his mother has a point. but five neat ones beat twenty sloppy ones. could he do it in two sittings

We get the same page. Half before dinner, half after. The faces still appear, just later in the evening.

Mine are well past this, but the drawing phase came and went with both boys. Letters with legs are still letters. I wouldn't let it spoil the days he spends with you. His mother can decide the rule, you can decide the mood.

My daughter did exactly this at that age. Her teacher's trick was to circle the best letter on each line and let her try to beat it. It turned the page into a small game. Worth a try before deciding who is right ❤️

Twenty of the same letter would bore me too. Whatever you decide, keep one of the pages with legs. You'll want it in ten years.

my daughter's kg notebooks are still in a trunk at home. the doodled pages are the only ones anyone looks at now. finish what the teacher asked though, they do notice

ask the teacher if 20 is the rule or just how many fit on the page. ours said five good ones was fine when we asked
