  • 3on Blue streak in her hair over the Diwali break. Our 14 year old has made her case

We allowed it for our daughter at 15, during the summer break. Two things I would check. First, whether the dye is genuinely temporary; ours was labelled 'semi-permanent' and lasted far longer than promised. Second, whether the school has an unwritten rule even if the handbook is silent. We asked the class teacher informally beforehand, which avoided any surprises.

  • 0on found my 17 year old's second instagram. should i ask to be let in

I'd separate two things: whether you can see the account, and whether she knows how to handle a problem on it. When I raised privacy with my daughter, I asked her to show me her settings rather than asking to follow. She was fine with that. Following her second account would have been a different conversation, and probably not a good one.

  • 0on do lkg kids at vignan global gen school in madinaguda get a nap and some outdoor time?

I am not a parent there, so I can't describe the day. On process, though: by next year he may be joining at LKG or UKG rather than nursery, and schools often handle joiners into those classes differently from the main nursery intake. When you call, ask how they take children into the class he would actually be entering.

  • 2on On-call nights, and my 15 year old now stays up 'to keep me company'

Could you give him a defined part in it instead of a flat no? For example, if he's still up at 11 he can make the chai, and after that it's lights out whatever the laptop is doing. When I was flying back late, our daughter wanted to wait up, and a small job before a fixed time worked better than refusing outright. I can't say whether it would hold up during exams.

  • 0on Every word problem, she asks me 'is this a plus one or a minus one?'

We had the same with our son around that class. What eventually helped was asking him to act it out or draw it before writing anything: three mangoes, someone takes one, what is left. It felt slow for a few weeks, and then the question 'plus or minus' slowly disappeared. I would also stop giving the operation, even partly. He had learned that if he waited long enough, I would.

  • 3on Every nursery brochure says 'activity-based'. What does a day at Holy Spring High School look like?

We're also in Bandlaguda Jagir, though our children are past nursery and neither went to Holy Spring, so I can't speak to the school itself. On the practical side, do the drive once at 8 am on a rainy day before deciding. The distance looks small on the map. The morning traffic from our side is another matter.

  • 1on Two levels left in abacus after four years, and she wants to stop now

I can only speak from one case. Our daughter stopped music exams one grade short at 12. She hasn't regretted it; my partner and I did, for about a month. I would only add that it may be worth asking whether she wants to stop abacus or stop that particular class, since sometimes it is the batch or the teacher.

  • 4on Pottery class on Saturdays in class 10. Keep it or drop it?

That's a useful way to put it. We've agreed she keeps it till the half-yearlies and then the three of us look at it together, without the relatives. She also pointed out that it's the only time her phone is in another room for two hours, which I hadn't considered.

  • 0on She wakes from every afternoon nap crying, and it takes twenty minutes to settle her

Many years ago with our daughter, the paediatrician's view was that some children simply wake from a deep afternoon sleep disoriented, and that the length of the nap affects it more than anything you do afterwards. We woke her ten minutes earlier for a fortnight and it eased. I'd treat that as one family's experience rather than a rule.

  • 0on grandson has decided i need an afternoon nap. he puts me to sleep now

Our son did the same with my father at about that age. Four years on, my father still asks for it when he visits. I am not sure the boy remembers, but my father certainly does.

  • 1on Staying involved in our daughter's class 10 year when I'm away half of every month

The dates and forms idea is a good one. It's useful, it's the kind of thing I'm good at, and it doesn't feel like checking up on her. I'll offer that this weekend and see if she takes it.
