Weighing Sri Vignana Vardhini in Saidabad for our son, and PTMs are my main worry

quiet_hammock_7155

We're considering Sri Vignana Vardhini High School for our son from next year. My work involves outstation customer demos most weeks, and my partner runs a business, so weekday meetings are hard for both of us. For current parents: are PTMs usually on a weekday or a Saturday, and will teachers take a phone call when a parent can't make it? I'd like to hear what has happened in practice rather than what the school says at the enquiry desk.

A practical point first: ask how many PTMs there are in a year, not only which day. At our son's school there are four, and the two that matter are the ones after the term exams. If you can plan leave for just those, missing the rest is easier.

Is it one parent per PTM, or do they want both? Ours needs only one of us, which helps.

We're at the daycare stage, but I travel for work too. What has helped: telling the teacher at the start which weeks I'm usually away. They've been good about moving my slot when they know early.

We haven't reached school yet. One thing I'd check: is the report sent home before the PTM, or handed over only at the meeting? If it's only at the meeting, missing one means waiting weeks to see it.

My son's school is in Kompally, not this one. Our PTM is second Saturday. Once when I could not go, my nanna went, and the teacher explained everything to him also. Phone calls are fine with our teacher, but only after 4.

Before PTMs I'd look at the daily commute. Bandlaguda Jagir to Saidabad is a long way for a primary child twice a day. Have you timed it at 8 am?

With travel in both our jobs, the PTM itself mattered less than whether the teacher replied to a note in the diary within the week. If any current parents reply here, that is the question I'd put to them.
