Would Touchstone Public School work for our son through the middle primary years? It's walking distance

Touchstone is a few minutes on foot from our place in Bandlaguda Jagir. Our son's current ICSE school is about 40 minutes each way, and after a few years of that drive we're looking at closer options for next year. What I'd want to know first: how do they place a child joining from ICSE midway through primary? An assessment, a chat with the child, or do they go by the report card? And with classes only up to 7, where do their children usually move on to? I don't want to fix one switch now and face another three years later. Anyone who has been for a visit, or has neighbours with children there, I'd also like a sense of the day itself.

I don't know Touchstone itself. From the teaching side: with children who join from another board, the gap is usually the second language, not maths or science. Ask early how they'd handle Telugu if he hasn't done it to the same level. Some schools give new joiners a term to catch up, some expect it from day one.

On the class 7 question, ask them directly which schools their class 7 children moved to in the last couple of years. A school that has thought about it will have an answer ready. We asked something similar at a primary-only school once and the answer told us a lot.

A walk to school is worth a lot in the primary years, especially if both of you work. We moved our daughter closer in class 4 and her evenings changed completely. The class 8 question is real though. I'd want the next school identified before joining, not after.
