Every nursery brochure says 'activity-based'. What does a day at Holy Spring High School look like?

moss_compass_3523

Our younger daughter will be starting nursery next June and we've begun looking. Holy Spring High School in Falaknuma is one a neighbour brought up, and it runs from nursery to 10, which suits us. Every school we've looked at uses the same words. Activity-based, play-way, holistic. None of that tells me how much of a nursery child's morning is spent at a desk with a pencil. If your child is or was in nursery there: roughly how is the morning split? Is there outdoor time? Does writing start in nursery or later?

Same search for us, we're also looking for next June. One thing a friend told me: ask to see the nursery room around 11, not at 9 when they're still settling. You see the real day then.

We're also in Bandlaguda Jagir, though our children are past nursery and neither went to Holy Spring, so I can't speak to the school itself. On the practical side, do the drive once at 8 am on a rainy day before deciding. The distance looks small on the map. The morning traffic from our side is another matter.

Granddaughter's nursery had all those words too. What told us more was the bag. Ask what a nursery child carries home on an ordinary day. Two notebooks or none 🤷

Ha, every brochure in the city has 'holistic' in it somewhere. Ask for a sample weekly timetable for nursery. A school that has one will happily show it to you. If all they have is the brochure, that's an answer too.

ask if they write in nursery. if yes ask how much. in our time it was full notebooks at 3 😅 daughter's starting college now and still remembers

no experience with this school. we saw three nurseries for our daughter years ago and only one let us stand in the class for ten minutes. that's the one we picked
