Pottery class on Saturdays in class 10. Keep it or drop it?

quiet_hammock_7155

Our daughter has been going to a Saturday morning pottery class for about a year. Two hours, close to home, and the one thing in her week that has nothing to do with marks. She's in class 10 now (ICSE), and every relative, plus a couple of parents from her class, says all activities should stop till the boards. She wants to continue and I'm inclined to let her. I'd like to hear from families who kept one activity going through class 10. Did it survive the half-yearlies, or did it quietly stop anyway?

Very nice that she has something like this. My son is 6 and he loves playing with mitti, it is the only time he is calm. Do pottery classes take small children also? We are in Kondapur, new to Hyderabad. Sorry for asking in your post.

Two hours a week isn't what decides a board result. If her marks hold after the first term, keep it. If they drop, pottery won't be the reason, but it will be the first thing everyone blames. Decide now what you'll look at, so the relatives don't decide it for you.

That's a useful way to put it. We've agreed she keeps it till the half-yearlies and then the three of us look at it together, without the relatives. She also pointed out that it's the only time her phone is in another room for two hours, which I hadn't considered.
