A colleague keeps saying 'IGCSE from nursery' about Sancta Maria in Lingampally. What does that mean for a 3 year old?

2on On-call week in November and my daughter finishes preschool at 12.30
This is the right question. My partner is at home right now so we're mostly covered, but the one week my partner travelled I found out that 'phone on' still meant I couldn't leave for the daycare pickup while a report was pending. Had to ask a colleague to cover for an hour. I'd book someone for at least the 12 to 3 window.
1on Every meal now ends with her food on the floor, one piece at a time
Ours does exactly this and then leans over the side to check where it landed. We've started taking the plate away at the first deliberate throw, calmly, no fuss. Too early to say if it works, it's only been a week, and some days he seems quite happy for the meal to end 😂
2on Found a baby sock in my shirt pocket halfway through the release review
Check the rubber seal in the washing machine drum. That's where all of ours end up 😂 found three in one go last weekend
2on Every diaper change with our crawler is now a wrestling match
Ours is the same age and flips like a fish. What works about half the time: one 'special' toy that only comes out at changing time, so it never gets boring. Ours is a small torch. Today it worked, tomorrow who knows 😄
0on Anything for nursery children after school hours at St Josephs High School, Patancheru?
A year behind you: our son isn't even 1 yet and I'm already eyeing schools near Gachibowli for exactly this reason. Haven't found one that keeps nursery kids till 4 yet. Will be watching this thread 😄
Can't help on the school. One small thing: if he wants you to look at anything, ask him to bring the book list and the timetable they hand out. Much easier to judge from those than from a name.
1on Would classes 6 and 8 at Mother Theresa Co Education High School be a hard switch from CBSE?
Speaking only from my own schooling: I did State Board till 10 in Gujarat and moved to CBSE after. Different state, so take it with salt. What I remember is that the maths wasn't easier or harder, just ordered differently. Some chapters felt repeated and some came out of nowhere. Class 8 felt like a fine time to switch, better than 9 for sure.
6on Our colony association asked me to choose play equipment for the under-3s corner
Mine is under one, so mostly he plays with the ground itself. But whatever you buy, put money into the flooring first. Rubber mats or sand under anything they can climb. Our society park has a slide on concrete tiles and nobody lets a toddler near it.
2on Leadership dinners twice a month, and no one at home to take over in the evenings
My evenings are easy right now only because my partner's on a career break, and this made me realise how much I take that for granted. One thing our department did after a colleague raised the same issue: alternate the evening meet with a lunch. Might be worth suggesting.
0on Granddaughter is 6 and still carries her baby blanket everywhere at our house
Taking notes. Our boy is 8 months and will only sleep with one particular muslin. We bought two more of the same and he can tell the difference. No idea how.
1on Amma won't let the fan run in the baby's room. It's still 36 outside
We put a small thermometer on the nursery wall. People argue with us, they don't argue with a number. 31 degrees inside the room ended the debate in one afternoon.
1on The baby has discovered he can shriek, and so have the neighbours downstairs
The 'they could see we were trying' part is useful. From tomorrow his early morning play moves to the room that isn't over their bedroom. It'll still be loud, but at least I can tell the uncle we did something 😄
4on Thinking of nursery at Akshara School, Langar Houz, so our daughter can ride to work with me
We've been weighing the same thing for daycare near my lab. What stopped me was sick days. If he's unwell he stays home, and home is 40 minutes from the place he spends every day. Not a dealbreaker, just the part I hadn't pictured.
