Thinking of nursery at Akshara School, Langar Houz, so our daughter can ride to work with me

mango_kite_9993

I teach at a school on the Langar Houz side and leave KPHB at 6.45 every morning. If our daughter did nursery near my workplace, she would ride with me both ways and the grandparents wouldn't have to cover pickups. Akshara School is close to where I work, so it's on the list. There are two things I can't work out from the website. First, what time the nursery children finish. My day ends well after any nursery day, so I'd need to know how that gap is usually handled. Second, how its holidays compare with an international school's calendar. Ours breaks earlier for summer and has a longer winter break, so there may be weeks when one of us is working and the other isn't. If you have a little one there, or have asked them about this, I'd like to hear how the day runs.

We've been weighing the same thing for daycare near my lab. What stopped me was sick days. If he's unwell he stays home, and home is 40 minutes from the place he spends every day. Not a dealbreaker, just the part I hadn't pictured.

We live in Attapur and pass Akshara on the way to the hospital. I can't tell you anything about the nursery, our daughter is still a baby. The road outside gets slow from about 8, which may not matter if you're through before then.

from the school side: ask for the nursery dispersal time in writing, and whether children of staff or late pickups wait somewhere supervised. a teacher's day runs past the nursery day at nearly every school

The holiday mismatch is the bigger problem, not the timings. Weeks when you're teaching and she has no school, who has her? And are they near your school or near home?

we thought about this for our son, near my partner's office. the car time together sounded lovely. in practice he slept through every single drive

did this with my elder one for two years, school near my office. some of our best talks were in that car. holidays never matched though 😂
