he lives in ramanthapur, wants state board, class 4 for his son from next june. asked me because 'madam will know schools'. madam lives in manikonda and knows nothing about that side :) what should he be asking when he goes there?
Ramanthapur is close-ish to us. I don't know anyone at that school personally, but tell him to go once at closing time and see how the children are picked up, and to ask about the Telugu and Hindi periods. On our side that's usually the first thing families ask, kada?
He should ask what an ordinary day's homework looks like in class 4, and try to talk to one parent at the gate, not only the office.
Is he deciding mainly on distance or on the board? If he lives in Ramanthapur itself, a school he can walk his son to is worth a lot at class 4.
Can't help on the school. One small thing: if he wants you to look at anything, ask him to bring the book list and the timetable they hand out. Much easier to judge from those than from a name.
Since the school goes up to class 10, he could also ask where most children go for intermediate afterwards. He'll be doing this search again in six years, and it helps to know now.
Class 4 is a reasonable time to join, the syllabus hasn't got heavy yet. Whatever he picks, the daily commute for a nine year old matters more than people expect :)
