Would classes 6 and 8 at Mother Theresa Co Education High School be a hard switch from CBSE?

We are likely to rent in Moula Ali from next June, and Mother Theresa Co Education High School is one of the schools within reach. Both children are in a CBSE school now and would join classes 6 and 8. The trade-off I keep going around is this. The shorter commute would give them back nearly two hours a day, but the older one would be changing boards two years before her class 10 exam. The other unknown is how different the State Board maths and science books feel at that level. If your child joined there from another board, or you looked at it closely, I would like to hear how the first year went.

No experience of this school myself. When we were looking at nursery options, older parents kept telling us to ask whether a school runs any bridging sessions in the first term for children coming from another board, and to ask that directly at the visit rather than assume.

Speaking only from my own schooling: I did State Board till 10 in Gujarat and moved to CBSE after. Different state, so take it with salt. What I remember is that the maths wasn't easier or harder, just ordered differently. Some chapters felt repeated and some came out of nowhere. Class 8 felt like a fine time to switch, better than 9 for sure.

That is useful, thank you. The ordering problem is what I suspect too. I will ask for the class 8 textbooks when we visit and go through them chapter by chapter against what she has done.

Not much to add on the school, our daughter is still a baby ❤️ Only that two hours a day back is huge. My sister moved her boys to a closer school in Kolkata mainly for that and says their evenings changed completely. Hope the visit goes well.
