4on Son says he'll write the new school's entrance test badly on purpose
I would take the statement seriously, but not as final. He is telling you he wasn't heard when the decision was made. Could you ask him what would have to be true about the new school for him to try properly? If the answer is nothing, that is information too. Is it particular friends he's attached to, or the place and the teachers?
1on What has to be bought before LKG starts at Bhashyam High School, Moula Ali?
I don't know the Moula Ali branch, sorry. At my younger one's school the list came at admission, but the books only arrived in the first week of term and the uniform needed a second fitting because he'd grown by June. So buy the shoes last. If your cousin can find even one family a year ahead at that school, that conversation will tell them more than any list.
2on 17 year old wants to revise at a paid study library till 10 pm
I did go and look before agreeing to anything. It's well run, a woman at the desk who knows the regulars, mostly college students. That part reassured me. It's really the late return I'm stuck on.
2on 3 month old screams through every bath, start to finish
The cloth in the water helped our younger one too. I think it was the feeling of nothing around him that he disliked. With our elder one nothing worked and she simply grew out of it.
0on Gym near Banjara Hills that will take my two teenage sons and keep an eye on their lifting?
Our daughter joined a gym near Rajendranagar at 16. They asked for a parent consent form, a parent at the first session, and a basic fitness check before she touched weights. The first month was only form work with light weights, which she found boring and which was exactly what I wanted. I would ask every gym you visit whether they have a written process for under-18s. If they don't, they are probably making it up as they go.
2on took the 2 yr old to her brother's cricket match. she cheered for the other team all morning
Our son did this at his sister's veena recital when he was about that age. He clapped loudly in every pause, including the ones in the middle of a piece, and then asked very loudly whether it was finished yet. She still brings it up.
1on Came home after a night shift to breakfast my teenagers had made, with instructions
Ours made tea for both of us once, unprompted, in class 11. It took a while to discover it was the opening move in a negotiation about a concert. Enjoy the upma, and keep an eye on the calendar.
4on Blowing kisses is her new skill, and paati has claimed every one
Mine, years ago, blew his first ones at our watchman, every morning for weeks. Nobody in the family could claim them. In hindsight that kept the peace.
4on School counsellor wants a list of 10 to 12 universities by July. How did you narrow yours?
That is a useful filter, and easier for her to research herself than rankings. She has started a sheet with one row per university and a column for first-year hours. Four places already have a question mark in that column.
4on 7 months old and he's found his own voice. Full-volume shrieking, everywhere we go
Our son did exactly this at about the same age. It lasted a couple of months and then turned into babbling, which was just as loud but sounded more like conversation. We stopped taking him to the bank.
1on Class 2 timetable has eleven subjects. Is that normal now?
Our two are at an IB school, so the list looks different. Friends with children at CBSE and state board schools say the written tests usually stay with the languages, maths and EVS, and the rest have a notebook at most. Your welcome note's 'holistic' might mean exactly that.
0on son spent the summer editing videos for his cousin and now says that's his career
Our 16 year old spent a summer certain she would be a film editor. What helped was asking her to make one piece for someone outside the family, a friend's small business. A stranger's feedback told her more than anything we could say. She still edits, but now she knows how much she likes it and how much of it was the praise. Would he do something like that for someone who isn't his cousin?
When our elder one was small, her early years school followed its own approach rather than a named syllabus, and she was happy there. The one thing I would check is how they report progress. Without board terms, some places send only photos and a general note, and we found it hard to tell what she could really do. Ask to see a sample report.
1on her whole friend group thinks she's the expert on periods because i'm an obstetrician
My elder one is in her teens now and still remembers which friend told her what at eleven, so the friend-group version does stick. I would sit with her alone first, ask her to explain to you what she told them, and correct it as a conversation rather than a test. As for the other mothers, would it help to tell one or two of them yourself, before they hear it second-hand?
Staggered timings are not always the problem. Ours are ten years apart, so they have never been on the same timetable. What wore us down was the waiting. The younger one sat in the school lobby for an hour most days. If they do stagger, ask what the earlier child does in the gap and who is with him.
1on Our one year old cries at every new face, and we have no family nearby to practise on
No family nearby for us either, with both of ours. With our younger one, the stage you describe lasted roughly from ten months to fifteen. What seemed to help was the same few faces, often, rather than many new ones. The vegetable vendor who came by every morning became her first friend outside the house. A playgroup might be too much at once.
Things that caught me out when a friend's toddler visited: the low drawer with medicines and cleaning things, dupattas and charger wires hanging within reach, and the gaps in the window grill. Four hours only feels long if you plan to entertain her the whole time. A small bucket of water and a few steel bowls on the balcony floor kept that child busy longer than any toy. Also ask her mother what words she uses for the toilet and for water. That saved us some tears.
0on Six months old, feeds happily for me, and refuses every bottle my mother offers
With our son it started around the same age and came and went for a couple of months. What helped was leaving the house completely instead of hovering in the next room. I think he knew I was close and simply waited. Our parents also found it easier once they stopped offering it the moment we walked out. Does your mother try straight away, or wait till she's properly hungry?
