7 months old and he's found his own voice. Full-volume shrieking, everywhere we go

Not crying. Happy shrieking. At the bank, at my sister-in-law's house, in a quiet restaurant on Saturday where three tables turned round. He looks so pleased with himself after each one. Is this a phase? How long did it last with yours? We've started planning outings around it 🤷

Our son did exactly this at about the same age. It lasted a couple of months and then turned into babbling, which was just as loud but sounded more like conversation. We stopped taking him to the bank.

The takeaway phase is real. We started timing meals out around our daughter's nap and sat outside when we could, which helped more than shushing ever did.

My son was a big shrieker too. Now he's 12 and I can't get two words out of him at dinner. Enjoy the noise while it lasts.

Our chinnodu did this right at 7 months, maximum volume in the lift every morning. The watchman started shrieking back, which made it worse 🙂 It faded by around 10 months.

Same age as our youngest, who has just started this. With our older daughter I had forgotten it ever happened. We let it go everywhere except at home at 6 in the morning.

At that age our little one shrieked at every new face and then laughed at her own noise. She's 3 now and sings at full volume instead, so I'm not sure it ever really stops ❤️
