Class 11 result came today. Does a weak chemistry mark matter anywhere, or only to us?

0on Class 12 son is revising the same chapters twice, in two different orders
Ours is in class 12 too with the same two-calendar problem. What helped a little was one list of chapters on the fridge with two columns, school done and coaching done. Once he could see how many overlapped, he stopped rewriting notes and just added to one set. Not perfect, but he's less tired. Hang in there, this year is long for parents too ❤️

The trial week is a fair idea, thank you. Much easier to look at one week of actual work than argue about a hypothetical two months. I'll put it to him as a deal and see if he takes it ❤️
1on Office crèche or the daycare near home for a 3 year old?
We did an office crèche with my younger one, years ago now. The morning drive together was the best part of the day, he chattered the whole way. The hard part was that his day was exactly as long as mine. On late days he was the last child there and very cranky in the car home. Maybe ask how many kids are usually still there after 7. ❤
1on My parents do three days a week with our 2.5 year old and it's wearing them out
Agree on the pickup problem. With my younger one we tried a playschool that offered a van, and the van turned out to be the hardest part of his morning. A nanny at home was calmer for everyone, even if it cost more. Hope your parents get a breather either way ❤️
0on Back from paternity leave straight into a release week
My partner was in exactly this spot when our elder one was born, and what helped most was coming home at 7 for an hour to do the bath, then logging back in. The release still ran late, but I wasn't alone for the hardest part of the evening. Tell your partner you're trying, that matters too ❤️
2on Robotics club runs till 4.45 and the school bus leaves at 3.30
That's such a practical idea, thank you. I'll ask his teacher for the list. His older brother has offered to cycle over on one of the days too, as long as nobody mentions it to his friends ❤️
1on Class 10 science. Is NCERT enough, or do we need the reference books the tuition keeps adding?
My elder one wrote his class 10 boards recently. For science he did NCERT line by line, the NCERT exemplar for the tougher questions, and one book of sample papers from December. That was it. His tuition also tried to add books and he quietly stopped carrying them after a month. What helped more than any extra book was timed practice with the sample papers. Your son sounds like he's doing the work, which is the hard part ❤️
0on Grade 6 IB maths looks far behind what her CBSE cousins are doing. Do we add something?
Looking at it from the other end: my elder son is in class 11 now, CBSE all the way, and the boys I see doing well in maths there are the ones who understood why, not the ones who did the most sums. I'd hold off on extra classes unless she's unhappy or asks. If you do add something, choose a tutor who is willing to start from what she already understands.
That's a lovely answer. My elder one dropped coding club in class 9 and picked it up again this year for a biology project. He needed it for something he cared about, and suddenly it was worth learning.
0on Five boys, a monsoon fort trek near Lonavala, and no adult going
That's the part that bothers me. It's one none of us parents had heard of. One boy's cousin did it last year and says it's 'easy'.
1on Our 14 year old wants to ride the colony scooty with her friends. Inside the gates only, she says
We had this exact negotiation with our older son. What we agreed: no riding anywhere until a learner's licence, but he could go with my partner on Sunday mornings to an empty ground and learn the controls. It took the urgency out of it. He wasn't missing out, he was 'learning properly'. He was nearly 16 before he rode on any road at all ♥
2on Class 6 notebooks are half empty. She wants all new ones for class 7
We pull out the written pages and get the rest bound into thick rough books at the photocopy shop near us. Costs very little. My younger one grumbled the first year, then started asking for 'the fat book' for his sums ❤️
