Class 6 notebooks are half empty. She wants all new ones for class 7

Cleared her shelf yesterday. Eleven notebooks from class 6, and most of them have barely 40 pages used. Science has about 25. One has only a cover page with her name done in bubble letters. She wants a fresh set for class 7 because 'nobody brings old notebooks'. I'm fine buying new ones for the subjects, but throwing away hundreds of clean pages feels wrong. Her little brother starts class 1 in June, so in theory there's a use for them, though he isn't going to need lined A4 for a while. What do other families do with these? Tear out the used pages? Make her carry them anyway? 😄

Before deciding, check the class 7 list. Many schools specify the ruling and size for each subject, so the old ones may not be allowed for class work anyway. They make good rough books. My daughter uses old notebooks for maths practice at home, and I'd rather she wastes paper on working than on neat copying.

We pull out the written pages and get the rest bound into thick rough books at the photocopy shop near us. Costs very little. My younger one grumbled the first year, then started asking for 'the fat book' for his sums ❤️
