2on Considering State Board for LKG for the first time. Shanti Vidya Niketan in Yousufguda?
I teach primary, and children who join in class 3 or 4 from a State Board school usually catch up within a term in most subjects. It takes longer when the second language changes as well. If CBSE later is a real possibility, I'd keep an eye on which second language she would be learning from the start.
Smart boards are common now and are mostly the teacher's tool. The question that tells you more is whether practice or homework is set on a device at home. That's where the screen time adds up.
Update for anyone with the same conversation coming up: the weekday he wrote out has school till 4, coaching 5 to 8, and 'cricket on Sundays maybe'. He looked at it for a while without saying much. No decision yet, but Nallakunta has gone from 'the plan' to 'one option'.
That's a good way to put it. He seems to think coaching replaces homework somehow. I'll ask him to write out a weekday as he imagines it. If it has a cricket slot in it, we'll know.
1on my 7 year old has been checking on the idli batter every hour like it's a patient
This is a science lesson my class would never sit still for. Next step: one spoon of batter in a clear glass with a rubber band at the level. She can watch it climb, or not climb.
1on My 4 year old will only eat from his thatha's steel plate now
In our house it was my bou's kansa thali. Every child in the family went through a phase of wanting it. Let him have it. These plates outlast all of us.
2on Class 2, and suddenly hungry by 10 am every school day
Can confirm from the primary block where I work. We also see children who skip breakfast because the van comes at 7. My son was one of them. A banana in the van helped more than a bigger tiffin.
0on Seven months and he suddenly screams at anyone new, including my sister
When our son went through this, the person he screamed at most was his aja, my father. My father decided it was a challenge. He sat in the same room every evening with his newspaper and ignored the baby completely. Within a month the baby was crawling over to pull the paper away. Your mother will stop apologising once she sees it pass. Mine did.
1on Studio around Serilingampally that can get a passport-size photo of a 3 year old?
Before you go to a studio, ask the preschool if they'll accept a printed phone photo. At the school where I teach, the office only cares that the face is clear and the background plain. Most of our younger children's photos are clearly taken on a balcony.
2on ICSE class 9 elective form is due before school reopens. Does the choice follow him later?
We're CBSE so I won't pretend to know how ICSE treats it. What I'd do is ask the school which streams their art students went into for class 11 last year. If the answer is 'all kinds', you have your answer. And a 13 year old who draws in every margin will probably work harder at the thing he picked than at the one he was handed.
