Class 2, and suddenly hungry by 10 am every school day

umber_bookmark_8866

Over the summer he started eating twice the rice he used to. Now school has started and the teacher says he's asking for his snack box in the first period. His tiffin comes home empty, and he walks in at 3.30 asking what there is to eat. I pack the same small snack I packed last year. Clearly not enough for class 2 any more. What do your kids take for the short break that actually lasts them?

my 13 yr old started this at 6 and never stopped 🤷 what worked for us was a proper second breakfast, not a snack. a paratha roll or a boiled egg and some fruit for the short break. our school allows it, check if yours does

Second breakfast is a nice way to put it. School allows a snack box at the short break, I've just been packing it like it's for a much smaller child. Trying a mini roll tomorrow 🙂

teacher side: by 10.30 half my class is asking when break is. the ones with something filling at break are noticeably calmer in the next period. the ones with two biscuits are not

Can confirm from the primary block where I work. We also see children who skip breakfast because the van comes at 7. My son was one of them. A banana in the van helped more than a bigger tiffin.
