11 yr old wants a proper football coach. Apparently I don't count

Been kicking a ball with her in the colony every evening since she was 6. Now she wants 'a real coach'. Girls' batch if possible. Nacharam, Tarnaka, Habsiguda side. Evenings once school starts. Also open to hearing what I've been doing wrong for five years 😂

A few turfs on the Secunderabad side run evening batches. The one my son tried mixed ages from 7 to 12, which suited him because he got to chase the older kids, but it was almost all boys. For her the girls' question might decide it more than the location.

Do these turfs usually allow a trial session? Our two are 4 and 3, so it's a while off, but I'd love to watch an evening batch before signing anyone up for anything.

I play on Sundays and have been looking at girls' batches for my daughter, who is younger. From what I have seen, they exist, but when numbers are low on a given evening, the girls get merged into the boys' group. Ask how many girls actually turned up last week, not how many enrolled.

And ask what an hour looks like minute by minute. Half of what we paid for in Pune was warm-up laps and standing in a line.

Our daughter played in a girls' batch at 11 and 12. What kept her going wasn't the coach, it was having two friends from school in the same batch. The term she went alone she lasted a month. If she has even one friend who'd join, start there.

she has one friend who's half interested. will try to drag her along

Ask her what you're doing wrong. Mine told me I explain too much and let her run too little. She was right, which was annoying.

speaking as a teacher, the kids who get one set of instructions from the coach and another from a parent at home struggle more than either set would cause alone. once she has a coach, you're the driver and the cheering section. hard, i know

Same story with badminton. I was her coach till she was 11, then she wanted someone 'who plays properly'. Fair enough. I still carry the kit bag and I'm still not allowed to say anything from the side 🙂
