4on IB grade 3 to State Board class 4 at Dazzling High School. How do kids handle the first real exams?
Reassuring to read even for us, and ours is only one. Apparently I'm reading school threads at 5 am now.
0on Would Geethanjali Vidyalaya in Saroornagar take a student volunteer for reading sessions?
Agree with this. My partner's cousin did her service hours at a tuition centre run by a local trust instead of a school, mainly because the paperwork was lighter. It might be worth keeping a second option while the school letter goes through.
0on Would classes 6 and 8 at Mother Theresa Co Education High School be a hard switch from CBSE?
Not much to add on the school, our daughter is still a baby ❤️ Only that two hours a day back is huge. My sister moved her boys to a closer school in Kolkata mainly for that and says their evenings changed completely. Hope the visit goes well.
The written permission with the daycare is the part I'd hang on to, that can't have been easy to set up. Our daughter is still tiny, so we're a long way off this, but I was the one who walked my cousin home every evening as a boy and I remember the 'not today' phase very well. What changed it for me was being asked instead of told. My aunt let me choose which days, and swap one if I gave notice.
2on Family keeps telling our 3 year old she's 'too big' for things now that a baby is coming
The bottle thing sounds very normal to me, though I'm only a few months into this, so take it lightly. Could your partner be the one to talk to their mother? It sometimes lands softer coming from family.
3on Daycare note says 'baby has rashes, please apply cream'. Which rash? Where? What cream?
A dermatologist getting a rash note made me smile. Ours once sent 'baby is a little warm' with nothing else, and I spent the whole drive imagining everything. A quick word at pickup worked better for us than messages. The teacher just told me what time she'd noticed it ❤️
1on Are there any ICSE schools on the Vanasthalipuram side, or is it CBSE everywhere?
A few months old here, and my partner has already asked me this exact question about the schools near us. Watching this one for answers.
We have a family member living with us and it has been a real help with our daughter. It works because we agreed early on who decides what, and we revisit it. That conversation is worth having before choosing a school around it.
0on She covers her ears at birthday parties, and now at the school's welcome assembly too
Telling the teacher seems kind more than anything else. She'll see it at every assembly anyway, and it's better she hears it from you, along with what helps, than works it out herself.
1on 3 yr old told our neighbour that I play with children at work all day
This is lovely. I test software for a living and I'm a little nervous about what ours will say once she can talk. Probably 'he finds problems' ❤️
1on Nursery admission came through, but for the afternoon session. He naps at 1
Our daughter's nap has moved twice this year on its own, both times when we were sure it couldn't. Not the same as nursery, I know, but little ones do seem to adjust faster than we expect. Hoping the first weeks are kind to you all.
6on Nursery forms at Morning Star High School, Charminar, for our caregiver's niece
Can't help with the school itself, but my neighbour applied for a State Board nursery seat last year. What saved her was one folder with the birth certificate, Aadhaar of the child and a parent, address proof, and photocopies of everything. She still had to go twice, but only because they wanted the originals seen once.
6on Keeping our toddler in daycare while I'm off for the summer and my partner isn't
We don't use daycare, ours is at home with family, so I can only add this: the weeks you get at home at this age go very quickly. I'd take them ❤️
1on Our class 12 son hasn't laughed since January. Then the neighbours' toddler started visiting
This is lovely. We have a baby at home and she has the same effect on everyone ❤️ Maybe make the hour a fixed thing till his exams are over?
1on Our 10 year old tells his friends my partner 'doesn't do anything' since the career break
We have a baby, so I'm nowhere near this stage yet, but the work at home is invisible in our house too and I've thought about it. Could he take on one piece of the day alongside your partner, the grocery run or dinner prep? Children seem to understand work by doing a part of it. Lovely that you noticed and want to say something ❤️
