Would Geethanjali Vidyalaya in Saroornagar take a student volunteer for reading sessions?

My daughter is 14 and in IB MYP. Her school asks students to do a service project this year, and she wants to run a weekly reading session with younger children, ideally in Telugu and English, at a school rather than online. Geethanjali Vidyalaya came up because a relative lives near Saroornagar and could take her on Saturdays. Has anyone approached a school like this for something similar? I'm not sure whether to write to the principal directly or go through her coordinator first, and what schools usually need from us before saying yes.

Don't know this school but nice idea! In my daughter's school some older kids from another school came and did storytelling with class 2 last year, she still talks about one akka who did all the voices. I think it went through the teachers, not the parents directly.

I'd start with her coordinator. When students from outside have done projects in my school, the request came on the other school's letterhead with the dates, the activity and the name of a supervising adult. That made it easy for our principal to say yes. Also be ready for them to want a teacher in the room, or to fit it into an existing period rather than Saturday. Schools are careful about outsiders with younger children, which is reasonable.

Agree with this. My partner's cousin did her service hours at a tuition centre run by a local trust instead of a school, mainly because the paperwork was lighter. It might be worth keeping a second option while the school letter goes through.
