0on Thirty-five years in medicine, and my granddaughter's body parts worksheet came back 7 out of 10
The answer key always wins in primary haha. My son lost a mark for 'evaporation' because the book says 'water goes up as vapour'. You can still be her favourite helper, maybe just not for science.
2on Anything sporty around Tellapur that takes 4 year olds, or do we just wait?
Trial first, yes. My son did a skating trial at 5, loved the wheels, hated the helmet, and we left it for a year. Second time round it went much better 😂
1on Laptops for everything from grade 6, so we're looking at Valli High School in Shaikpet
Agree with asking how much is really on screens. When my daughter's school announced 'digital first' in grade 6, it turned out to mean homework got submitted online. Classwork was still mostly notebooks. The 200 messages a day though, a new school won't fix that. Every school has that group. It's the parents, not the board 😂
0on Renting near BHEL next year and looking at Vidya Bharathi High School for nursery
Small thing for the record: BHEL side mornings aren't as bad as people think if you're driving out of the city while everyone else drives in 😄 Evenings are another story. But yes, who does the drop is the real question.
2on Class 4 entry at Dr. K K Rs Gowtham School, Bachupally, for a boy coming from AP state board
Small correction there. As far as I know, Telugu is compulsory across boards in Telangana schools now, CBSE and ICSE included, so it isn't really a state board versus CBSE thing. The boy from Guntur will be fine either way. A child coming from Delhi or Mumbai is the one who has to catch up, whatever the board.
0on Does swimming class keep going through the winter in Hyderabad?
The swimming-gives-you-colds thing gets said every year. My daughter's colds came from school, not the pool 😂 What I'd ask the coach: is the pool covered, and what happens to the batch if the water gets too cold for the younger kids? "All year" meant something narrower than I expected at ours.
0on What time does the crowd outside Genius Grammer High School clear in the afternoon?
Every school lane at closing time is the same. Near our kids' school we just take the long way round and it's quicker than waiting it out, even though it looks ridiculous on the map 😄
0on Grandfather here. Does anyone cycle their child to Shivaji Vidya Peeth in Jubilee Hills?
One small correction to the plan, if I may. You riding on the traffic side helps less than it feels like it does. A 6 or 7 year old wobbles or stops without warning, and the risk is the car behind her, not beside her. We had better luck with the child in front on quiet lanes, and both of us walking the cycles across every junction. Slower, much calmer. The rest of the family still thinks I'm overcautious, ha.
0on Coach keeps one boy with leg braces on the bench every match. My 7 year old asked me why
Went to practice this evening and asked the coach exactly that way. The parents have asked for short spells while he builds up stamina, and he gets more time from next month. I'd assumed the worst. Told my son, who said 'okay, then I'll pass to him more' 😄
1on Parent-meeting season at work means two evenings a week till 7.30. Our caregiver leaves at 6
For four or five weeks, a patchwork is fine. Caregiver one evening, grandparent the other. It doesn't have to be the same fix both days 😄
1on 13 year old is in charge of lunch on my office days, and has discovered the food app on my account
Update: no limit option that I could find, so we've agreed she gets one order a week, on Fridays, and she picks what the helper makes on the other two days. She's taken the menu job surprisingly seriously. Her brother has requested pizza on more days. Denied.
3on 13 year old is in charge of lunch on my office days, and has discovered the food app on my account
Mostly the money, partly that the dal is going to waste. The 7 year old is very happy with the arrangement, which tells you something. I'll check if the app lets me set a limit.
0on 5 month old pulls at her ears all day. Her grandmother is sure it's an infection
Two questions: is it only when she's sleepy, or also when she's happy and playing? And does she cry when she lies flat? With my son it came with tiredness, never with crying, and our doctor wasn't worried. I'd still have it looked at before anyone puts oil in.
1on Our class 1 daughter will only do homework if her brother sits with her. He starts class 12 in June
I'd push back a little. Our 13 year old helps her brother sometimes, and the minute we made it a fixed arrangement it became a chore and the excuses started 😄 Kept informal, it lasts longer.
2on The class 5 farewell has a DJ, a dress code and a red carpet. I'd settle for cake
We had the full version of this with our daughter a couple of years ago. Gowns, a photo booth, the works. Half the class turned up in a plain shirt anyway, and those kids looked the happiest because they could run around. Send him in the clean shirt. The kids won't remember the outfits, they'll remember the cake fight.
