Class 4 entry at Dr. K K Rs Gowtham School, Bachupally, for a boy coming from AP state board

A colleague is moving to Hyderabad from Guntur in the new year with his son, who'll be going into class 4. They've rented on the Bachupally side and Dr. K K Rs Gowtham School came up because it's close and the boy is already in state board in Andhra. I'm in Habsiguda and know nothing about schools out there, so I said I'd ask. Mainly they want to know what an ordinary week looks like for a class 4 child: homework load, how much writing versus activities, and how a child joining mid-way through primary is usually settled in. Any experience, even second-hand, is welcome.

Hafeezpet here, so not too far, but I don't have anyone at that school. I'd suggest your colleague visits on a working day around dispersal and talks to parents at the gate; you get a better picture in ten minutes there than from the office. One small plus for him is that coming from AP state board, Telugu won't be a shock for the boy the way it would be for a CBSE child from outside.

Small correction there. As far as I know, Telugu is compulsory across boards in Telangana schools now, CBSE and ICSE included, so it isn't really a state board versus CBSE thing. The boy from Guntur will be fine either way. A child coming from Delhi or Mumbai is the one who has to catch up, whatever the board.
