Does swimming class keep going through the winter in Hyderabad?

Daughter is 13 and wants to start swimming properly, not just holiday lessons. Coach near us in Gachibowli says the batch runs all year. Amma is worried she'll catch cold every week once it gets chilly in December. Do kids here actually keep going through the winter months, or does everyone drop out by November?

My son is 13 too and swims all year. The early morning batch thins out in December, but the evening one carries on fine. Get a good cap and make sure she dries her hair before heading home, that's most of the battle.

The swimming-gives-you-colds thing gets said every year. My daughter's colds came from school, not the pool 😂 What I'd ask the coach: is the pool covered, and what happens to the batch if the water gets too cold for the younger kids? "All year" meant something narrower than I expected at ours.

Reading this from Delhi, where our pools simply shut from November to March. A Hyderabad winter swim sounds like a luxury.

son did the evening batch through two winters in grade 8 and 9. no extra colds that I noticed. stopped in grade 10 when the coursework piled up 🤷

son is 4 so its just splashing lessons for us. evening batch ran right through last winter. the hard part was getting him from the pool to the car in the breeze with wet hair, not the water

Our daughter wanted the same at 13. The catch for us wasn't the cold but the timing: the only batch that fitted was 6 am, and that lasted about five weeks once the mornings got dark. If there's an evening slot that works with her school and tuition, I think she has a much better chance of sticking with it. Is the batch she's looking at morning or evening?
