Is five months too soon to restart our Sunday food walks, baby in a carrier?

Before our son was born, my partner and I spent most Sunday mornings on food walks: a couple of neighbourhoods, a few breakfast places, two or three hours on foot. We haven't done one since. He's five months now and happy in the carrier for about an hour. My mother says the crowds and noise will be too much for him. Did you take babies this young on long outings on foot? What did you plan around: feeds, sun, noise, something I haven't thought of?

We started taking our son out on Sunday mornings at about that age, with a carrier and a small bag. Going early was the key; by 9 the crowds and noise got to him. Do you plan to feed him during the walk, or fit it between feeds?

Between feeds worked better for us with our younger one. We'd feed just before leaving and be home within two hours. He slept through most of it, the carrier rocks them ❤

Five months is fine. Cooking smoke in his face for an hour is not. Pick quiet lanes, not the crowded junctions, keep it short the first time, and carry a muslin for shade.
