School and tuition teach class 12 accounts formats differently. Which one does the board accept?

Class 12 commerce, CBSE. My daughter's accountancy tuition teacher shows ledger and cash flow answers in a shorter format. Her school teacher insists on the full working notes and a slightly different layout, and cut marks for the tuition way in the half-yearly. She is now confused about which one to use in the board exam, and the pre-boards are not far. Is there a clear answer to this, or does it really depend on who corrects the paper?

not much help from me, son's only 7. but i remember my own class 12 accounts teacher saying the board takes any format if the working is complete and consistent. but that was decades back, so check

IB here, so I cannot help on the CBSE format itself. What I would do is ask her school teacher to mark one answer written the tuition way and explain what is missing. Then she knows instead of guessing ♥

She took one answer to her school teacher on Monday. It was accepted with a note to always include the working notes. So the shorter layout is fine as long as nothing is skipped. Thank you, that settled it more quickly than I expected.

Not commerce myself, but I'm a teacher at a CBSE school. From what our accounts colleagues say, they correct strictly against the marking scheme, and the board's sample papers show the format they expect. Have her compare both versions against those. Saves a lot of arguing 😄

We have the opposite problem in maths. Tuition teaches a faster method, school insists on the long one. My daughter writes the school method in exams and uses the fast one to check her answer. Maybe the two formats can work like that for her too.

checking with the other method is underrated. i still do the same with spreadsheets at work
