Our 16 year old wants her own debit card. I can't settle on a limit, or whether to look at it

Daughter chose a machine learning topic for her IB extended essay. That's my job.

A family friend's lab has offered our 16 year old a summer project. Real experience or padding?

3on Extra Saturday classes for class 10 or her usual tuition, we can't fit both
Different board for us, so I can't speak to what CBSE schools cover on those days. In her tenth year we had a similar clash and let her choose which to drop. She dropped tuition and it was fine for her, partly because she'd chosen it herself and so took the school sessions seriously. Whether it would work for another child I don't know. I'd find out whether the school Saturdays are new teaching or revision and tests. That changes the answer.
4on School and tuition teach class 12 accounts formats differently. Which one does the board accept?
We have the opposite problem in maths. Tuition teaches a faster method, school insists on the long one. My daughter writes the school method in exams and uses the fast one to check her answer. Maybe the two formats can work like that for her too.
3on 16 year old asked me how much the business makes. How much do you tell a teenager?
We gave ours the rough household budget at 16: what the house, school and her activities cost in a year, not what either of us earns. She became noticeably more careful about asking for things. Part of me thinks that's good and part of me misses the version of her who didn't know. I still think it was right, but it isn't free.
4on Elder son is in class 10 and wants hotel management. Which stream keeps that open?
Does he want to cook, or run a place? They are different paths. Science in 11th keeps every door open, but it costs him two years of physics he may hate, and that has a price too.

A fixed end date is a sensible middle point. My partner may agree to that more easily than to 'for a while'.

That turned out to be the useful way round. She explained the first section to me last night and found two gaps herself while talking. I said nothing, which was harder than it sounds.

That helps. I'll ask him whether there is a small piece of the analysis she could own by the end, even a single chart she can explain. If the answer is no, that tells us something too.
