Bengaluru, state board, class 10. We speak Telugu at home and English everywhere else. Her other subjects are fine. Kannada is where she loses most marks, mainly in the writing parts. Prepping for the board year now. Is a separate Kannada tutor worth it at this stage, or is there a simpler way? Anyone with a non-Kannada home who went through this.
not same board but similar with hindi for us. tamil at home, hindi at school, writing is where it falls apart what helped a bit: she reads hindi aloud to our cook for 10 min after dinner. cook enjoys it more than she does 😄 no tutor yet
The reading-aloud idea works for Kannada too. We speak Kannada at home and my mother does this with my daughter, and the key seems to be that the listener cares about the story and doesn't correct every word. For the class 10 paper though, if the writing section is the problem and the paper has set formats for letters and essays, a few weeks with a tutor on just those might be enough. Not a full-year tutor ❤️
