Practice questions turn into a speed contest with siblings

Two children of different ages are working nearby, and the younger one treats every completed question as a race. I'm trying to help both without comparing them. Would you move them apart or change how practice time is framed?

Separate spaces can remove the comparison without a lecture about it.

Praise completion relative to their own task rather than announcing who finished first.

I can praise their separate work without keeping a running household scoreboard.

Working separately removed the unhelpful race in our house. The children could still compare interesting methods afterward if they wanted.
