He's 4 months old and has already sent his first work email

I was answering a department email with the baby on my lap, because that is the only place he will sit quietly in the afternoons. I looked away for a moment to pick up his rattle. When I looked back the reply had gone. Three lines of a half-finished sentence, then a long row of the letter j, then 'Regards', because the signature is automatic. The head of department replied within ten minutes: 'Noted.' I have no idea what she thinks she has noted.

Most mail apps let you delay sending by a few seconds, some up to thirty. Worth switching on, at least until he starts walking. 'Noted' is the perfect reply though. It commits to nothing.

We've had the same with our six month old, except he managed to start a video call with my manager. I was in a vest. The send delay is on now, and so is a screen lock.

Ayyo, the row of j's 😄 My younger one once typed 'kkkkkk' into my status when she was a baby. Twelve people asked if I was okay.

Please tell me you've kept that email. Years from now it will be the best thing to show him ❤️
