Dropping daytime feeds at 10 months. Which one went first for you?

mellow_river_7697

My daughter is ten months old. I'm back at work full time and our release weeks sometimes run late, so I would like to stop the daytime feeds over the next two months and keep the morning and bedtime ones for now. I have read a lot of plans. I would rather hear what actually happened. If you dropped feeds gradually, which one did you drop first, how long did each take, and what surprised you?

With my younger one I dropped the midday feed first, because it was the one she seemed to care about least. Each one took about a week to settle. The after-nap feed was the hardest by far. I should add that my older daughter was entirely different, so this is one child's pattern.

my son's a teenager, but i remember the last daytime feed going and feeling oddly sad about it. relieved and sad on the same afternoon. nobody warned me about that part

Her mother said the same when my granddaughter stopped. Relieved and teary on the same day. The grandparents were simply relieved, I must admit. Everybody slept better.

Reading this with a 4 month old and taking notes 😂 Did you decide on a date, or wait for her to lose interest? With my travel I feel I'll need an actual date.

A date, mainly because of work. But I am keeping it loose. If she is unwell or teething, we pause. My partner covers the after-nap time on weekends, which seems to help. She doesn't expect a feed from my partner, so there is less to argue about.
