That's close to what I had in mind. He did practise the speech on us, so I can say something about that without turning it into a big talk. Thank you, both of you.
3on How do we bring up daycare for our toddler when family lives with us and looks after her?
We did this when our son was small and my mother was staying with us. What worked was asking her opinion first instead of announcing a decision. She looked at two daycares with us and it became partly her idea.
1on Class 6 boys now pool money for every birthday gift, and July has four birthdays
They notice for about a day, in our experience. Our son's group went through the same thing at 12, and once the amount came down nobody remembered who had proposed it. What stayed was that the boy who couldn't keep up stopped making excuses to skip the parties.
0on School wants a stream preference from class 9 students already. Is that normal?
We told our son the form is a snapshot, not a contract, and he has had one fixed idea for most of this year. 'Something with computers, maybe' is a perfectly good answer at 14. I'd be more concerned if he picked something with total certainty to please someone ❤

Through the half-yearlies is a good test. I'll hold off on signing him up for anything till then.

Writing the list tonight. He's sitting next to me watching the pre-match show, so the negotiation has already started.
