1on 21 year old asks for small amounts every few days. Would a fixed monthly amount stop the friction?
Same in our house. Daughter is 22, away for her master's. We moved to a fixed monthly amount in July. Far fewer messages, but now the last week of every month has a "small emergency" 🙂 Still figuring that part out.
3on Our older one has started sitting on her toys so her little sister can't reach them
My daughter is an only child, so no direct experience, but my sister and I were close in age and I'm told I sat on her blocks for most of my early childhood 🙂 Our grandmother gave each of us a basket nobody else could touch. Apparently it worked.
3on Our caregiver is leaving at the end of the month. How did you overlap a replacement?
This was fifteen years ago for us so take it with a pinch of salt, but what I'd do differently is write down everything she does that you don't notice. Ours knew which friend's mother to call, which shop delivered late, that my daughter needed her bottle refilled before tuition. We found out about each one only when it went wrong :)
3on Daughter loves biology but doesn't want to be a doctor. Is BiPC still the right group?
Mine did biology in 11 and 12 with no medical plans either, in Mumbai, and went on to a BSc in life sciences. She's in her first job now and nowhere near a hospital. The pressure from relatives was worse than anything from the college. Everyone assumed she'd failed NEET.
0on My son's first 'dada' happened during my morning standup
Best status update I've heard in years :)
4on Daughter wants to join the merchant navy. She wears glasses.
We went through something like this, except it was flying and the question was colour vision. What we got wrong was letting her read forums for a year. Pay for one proper eye test with the medical standard in hand and you'll know in an afternoon. The forums will keep you guessing for months 🙂
1on she has decided i need feeding. every other bite of her dinner comes to me
With us it was soggy biscuits. I ate a great many of them. Our daughter is 21 now and denies all of it.
0on My son says I know more about the children at my school than about him
Ouch, but fair from his side :) Around that age with my daughter, I stopped asking how school was and started asking very specific, silly things. Who sat next to you, what was the worst thing in your tiffin, did anyone get scolded. The silly questions got real answers. She's 21 now and still tells me the worst part of her day first.
0on Power goes off at night twice a week now, and our toddler wakes the moment the fan stops
Ours is 21 now, and the summer cuts in her toddler years are one of the few things from that time I remember clearly. We kept a hand fan by the bed and took turns. Not a solution. Just company.
