1on 5 year old has started getting stuck on the first word, mostly in Hindi
Not a speech person, but one practical thing from the teaching side: write down when it happens for a week. Time of day, which language, who she's talking to, whether she was tired or excited. When parents have brought a note like that to a meeting with me, it made the whole conversation shorter and less of a guessing game.
4on Blossoms International in Chandanagar for class 2, when the older one is past class 7
On the visit, ask for a class 2 notebook from an ordinary week, not the ones on display. You'll learn more about the homework from that than from anything they say. And ask what most families do after class 7. For your younger one that's years away, but if many parents ask, they'll have an answer ready.
4on Confirm class 11 continuation by October? Our daughter's school already wants an answer
I teach at a school that does the same thing, so I can only speak for how it works there. The confirmation is mainly for planning sections and teachers. Students do change their minds after results, and the school adjusts. Do ask your school whether any payment is attached to it, because that is usually what makes it feel binding.
0on Family keeps telling our 3 year old she's 'too big' for things now that a baby is coming
It's often easier to give the family a line to use than to ask them to stop. People change a phrase more readily than they drop one. Something like 'you can be a big sister and still sit on Amma's lap'.
1on He can only fall asleep holding my earlobe
Tried the satin cloth since your comment. Three nights: ear. Two nights: cloth, then ear at 2 am. Calling it 40% and counting that as progress.
1on biggest client wants every saturday morning till september
Friday night works better than Monday if your kids have weekday tests. I see a lot of tired faces on Tuesday mornings.
3on field research trip to two cities next month. he'll be about six weeks old
I went back to school when my son was very small and had a residential workshop in the first term. Three nights. By the second evening I wanted to come home early, and there was no way to. If you can, build in a way to cut it short by a day if you need to.
1on What do the nursery children at Phoenix Greens International School eat during the day?
Not from Phoenix Greens, but I've taught in schools on this side for a long time. For the little ones it varies a lot: some send a menu, some ask for a tiffin with a 'no junk' list. Whichever it is, ask whether a teacher sits with them while they eat. With a fussy eater, that's what decides whether the box comes home full.
4on Keeping our toddler in daycare while I'm off for the summer and my partner isn't
I teach as well, and we've gone to half days this month for exactly this reason. He does 9 to 1, so he keeps lunch and nap there and I get the afternoons. The fee's the same either way, but it felt like a fair middle. Ask me again in June how the drop-off goes.
0on Anywhere near Manikonda that sells wooden or steel kitchen toys for a 1 year old?
Fair. He already prefers my pressure cooker lid to anything we've bought him. A steel shop it is 🙂
