1on Ten minutes' walk from Geetanjali High School, Himayatnagar. Nursery timings and the Telugu question
Standing outside at drop-off time is a good test in itself. We ruled out one school near us after doing that for a few mornings. Nothing wrong with the school, but crossing that road with a three-year-old every day was never going to work.
0on Van won't drop my 9 year old unless an adult is at the gate. One evening a week, there isn't one
Does the school have an activity or club that runs late on that weekday? Then he doesn't take the van that day at all, and you or someone else collects him from school.
2on Refuses my poha at home, then ate two helpings of the same poha at her friend's house
That's my guess too. Her friend's mother says hers is the same in reverse, eats everything at ours and nothing at home. We're thinking of a weekly lunch swap, one Saturday at each house.
1on Working from home means my 16 year old thinks I'm always free to drive her
Mine is 4, so I can only speak as the daughter in this story. My mother ran a small business from home and I treated her exactly like this at 16. Looking back, half of it was wanting the time with her. Could you offer one fixed drive a day that's hers to pick, and the rest are autos?
2on Would Gowtham Model Schools in Meerpet work for two brothers going into classes 4 and 5?
I had the same thought. Our daughter's van ride is 35 minutes, and that already feels long at four. If a move is part of the plan, it may help to say so, since people here could then suggest schools near where you would be living.
0on Unicent School in Miyapur stops at class 5. Where do children go after that?
We had a primary-only school on our list last year and dropped it for exactly this reason. I didn't want a second admission round in class 6. That was our call, not a verdict on the school. One thing worth asking them directly is where last year's class 5 went. They should know.
