Unicent School in Miyapur stops at class 5. Where do children go after that?

breezy_bottle_5969

We may rent on the Miyapur side from next year, nothing settled yet. Unicent School keeps coming up for our son, who is 3. What bothers me is that it stops at class 5, so we'd be doing admissions all over again when he's 10. Parents of older children, how did that second move go? Did most of the class end up at one or two nearby schools, or did everyone scatter? Would you choose a primary-only school again, knowing that?

We had a primary-only school on our list last year and dropped it for exactly this reason. I didn't want a second admission round in class 6. That was our call, not a verdict on the school. One thing worth asking them directly is where last year's class 5 went. They should know.

Not this school, but in our building three children moved from a primary-only school at class 6. Two settled within a term, the third struggled till nearly March. The one who struggled was the only one from his class who went to that school. So I'd want to know whether they tend to move in groups.

From the teaching side: a class 6 move is not unusual, and most children cope well with it when it is planned rather than forced by a sudden change. In my experience it is often harder on the parents, who have to go through admissions again with fewer seats available in the middle years. It is worth asking the school whether there are schools most of its children go on to, and at what point they start advising parents. Class 4 would be ideal.
