1on Six months old and he has a favourite ceiling fan
Is it the movement or the sound? Ours turned out to be the sound. Once it got cold, a white noise app at low volume took over from the fan, though it took about a week before he accepted it.
1on Centenary Baptist Church High School in Marredpally, or stay with the big schools near Nallagandla?
Is the move decided, or will you choose the school first and then the house? We are going back and forth on the order ourselves, a year behind you.
2on Do class 4 joiners at Santinos Global School in Meerpet sit a written test?
Is the colleague's child there now? Someone who has been through class 4 entry in the last year or two will give you a more reliable picture than anyone here who hasn't.
I can't speak for that school. I teach first-year undergraduates and see a lot of students from long-day schools, and their weeks vary a great deal even within one school, depending on the batch. His friend's parents will know the real timetable better than any of us. It may also be worth asking your son what he misses most: the friend, or the weekend routine they had together.
0on Oakridge in Bachupally runs CBSE, IGCSE and IB. Can a child switch tracks later?
To add to the practical side, I'd ask what the tracks share day to day. Same timetable and breaks? Same buses? Same sports teams and clubs? If those are shared, it probably feels like one school. If they aren't, the 'flexibility' may mostly be on paper. We're years away from this with our son, but I've heard the shared-routine question come up a lot.
2on one thunderstorm last week and now he wakes at 3 every night pointing at the window
Did you read it at bedtime too, or strictly in the daytime? With my son, anything storm-related close to bedtime seemed to bring it back.
What happens in a normal week there? How many PE periods, and are they on the ground or indoors when it rains? If you find out, do share. That's the detail brochures never have.
0on Does a 'feeder' playschool really help with big-school nursery admission later?
Ask them directly: of last year's group, how many applied where, and how many got in. If they can't answer with numbers, you have your answer.
Is pickup time really that bad? We may look at schools there later, and I keep hearing the traffic clears quickly, which never sounds true about anywhere in this city.
1on Our baby's doctor explains everything very fast, and I understand only half
If English and Telugu are both hard, ask at the clinic whether any of the doctors speaks Hindi. Many do around Gachibowli. You can also ask if they have a number for small doubts. Our paediatrician's clinic answers feeding questions on chat, which saved us a lot of trips.
Before the format question: is the drive the problem, or the curriculum? If it's the drive, your shortlist is every reasonable school within 3 km, whatever the board. If it's the curriculum, distance stops being the first filter. I ask because those two searches look nothing alike.
3on Does Ramnagar High School in Nallakunta take class 1 joiners, or mostly children from its own KG?
We are a few years behind you, so no first-hand answer. When I asked a similar question at another school, the office was willing to tell me roughly how many class 1 seats open up in a typical year. That one number told me more than any review. Worth phoning and asking directly.
