1on What does your 1 year old do while you're cooking?
Something I wish I'd known earlier: she doesn't need to be entertained while you cook, she needs to be near you. Talk to her, tell her what you're chopping, give her a wooden spoon and a steel bowl of her own. At that age the play comes in short bursts and gets longer on its own if you don't interrupt when she's absorbed in something. It took months with mine, not days.
3on Do class 4 joiners at Santinos Global School in Meerpet sit a written test?
If you go, look at a class 4 notebook from this term if they'll show you one. It shows how much writing they expect and how work is corrected, which no brochure covers. And if she'd be on a school bus, ask how long the ride is for children at the far end of the route.
0on Both grandmothers say no curd or banana for the baby while it's raining. Do you follow that?
My mother had a list of 'cold' foods that was longer than the list of allowed ones. With my daughter I followed the doctor and let my mother say her piece. What helped was not announcing anything. If curd was on the plate, it was on the plate. Once it was obvious the baby was well, the arguments faded.
1on I teach languages all day. Our 2 month old says 'aaghoo' and I reply in full paragraphs
Both are good for her, the copying back and the full sentences. Take turns. In a few weeks you'll see her wait for her turn, and that part is lovely to watch.
0on Fair way to handle a caregiver asking for a raise after three months?
The review date is the important part. We had a helper who stayed with us for nine years, and I think it was because every raise came with a conversation about what the job now was, not just a number.
3on Son has one backlog from third year, and placements want none
Our daughter's batchmate was in exactly this spot. Cleared the supplementary, the result came through before the first companies arrived, and she sat for placements like everyone else. The rule mattered at the moment of applying, not before. So the real question is when that result comes out, and his college office can tell him that.
2on Our 4 month old screams at the oven timer, and only the oven timer
Some babies seem to react far more to one particular pitch. In my daughter's case it was our old landline ring, for months, and then one day she stopped caring. Hope yours outgrows it soon.
1on Cutting one clinic session so I'm home after school. Worth it at nine?
Mine is grown up now, but nine to twelve was when she told me the most, and nearly all of it came out in the car or in the kitchen, never when I asked directly. The people saying they need you less are thinking of physical care. The talking needs you more, I would say. My amma told me the same thing back then and I didn't listen for two years.
2on Our caregiver tells our son 'the crow will take you' when he won't eat
That's a good way to frame it. In my work, caregivers take a reason far better than a rule. 'He needs to feel safe on the balcony' gives her something to work with. 'Don't say that' only makes her feel told off.
