Would a later bedtime for our 3 year old cost me our 6 am hour together?

gentle_quilt_3233

Writing this while he's still asleep, which says something. Our son goes down around 8 and wakes at 6. My partner works late most days and gets maybe half an hour with him in the evening. I get the mornings. We have an hour before anyone else is up, he 'helps' with the tea and we read on the balcony. It's the best part of my day. Now my partner wants to push bedtime to 9.30 to get proper time with him. Which is fair. But I suspect it means he wakes at 7.30 and my hour is gone. Has anyone shifted bedtime like this and kept both?

my son's 16 and we still have an early tea together on the days he has first period. it started almost exactly like this. no advice really, just that it's worth protecting if you can.

Have you tested it, or are you assuming? Some kids wake at the same time whatever the bedtime. Try 9.30 for a week and see when he wakes before negotiating anything.

we tried a later bedtime at 4. she woke at the same time for about a week and then started sleeping in. so test it for longer than a week
