Which rules need to match when a 12 year old lives in two houses?

My nephew is 12. He stays with me on weekdays because his school is close to my place in Kompally, and goes home to his parents for the weekend. Bedtime, screens, snacks, homework, all different in the two houses. He's fine with most of it, but Monday mornings are hard, and lately everything comes with 'amma lets me'. We don't need to match every rule. Which two or three should match? Has anyone managed this with a child moving between houses?

from the school side, kids who move between two homes mostly cope fine with different rules. what goes wrong is the logistics. the notebook is at the other house, the sports uniform is at the other house. i'd match the homework routine and the bag packing before worrying about bedtimes

Does he have a full set of school things in both places, or does one bag travel back and forth?

A smaller version of this at our place. The kids have the nanny's rules on weekdays and ours at weekends. We agreed on only two things, sleep time and screens, and everything else is her call when she's with them. Took me a while to stop asking about the biscuits haha
