Carpenter around Tellapur for one study desk, or is that too small a job to bother?

citrus_bookmark_5844

Our 9 year old has started doing homework at the dining table, and the 17 year old studies sitting on her bed, which she insists is fine and her back says otherwise 😄 There's one wall in their room where two simple desks side by side would fit. The ready-made ones I've seen online are either too deep or too flimsy. Would a local carpenter even take a job this small? And if you've got something made, what did you wish you had told them before they started? Tellapur or anywhere close is fine.

Smaller carpenters do take jobs like this, especially just after the festival rush. Some will club it with another job in the same area. Two things people forget to tell them: the exact height of the chairs you'll use, and where the plug points are. Get them to check the height with the child actually sitting there, not from a standard number. For two kids eight years apart, ask for a slightly lower top on one side or plan for a footrest for the younger one. 🙂

We went the other way and bought a ready-made desk with an adjustable top for our 9 year old. He's grown a lot in the last year and a fixed height would already be wrong. For the 17 year old a fixed one makes sense, but I'd think twice for the younger one.
