The only skating batch for my preschooler is 7.30 on Saturday morning

My daughter loves her skating class. The weekday batches are after 5, which doesn't work, so she is in the Saturday 7.30 am one. My working week starts at 5.30 most mornings because of theatre lists, and Saturday is the only day I can sleep past 6. My partner covers most weekday evenings, so Saturdays are mine. It's either me being tired for the rest of the day, or taking away something she really enjoys at her age because I want my sleep. I haven't made peace with either.

both of mine had early saturday classes for years. i used to sleep in the car in the parking lot. not proud, but very rested.

  The car nap is a real option, the rink has covered parking. Did your two ever start resenting the early starts?

  Not answering for them, but our son did 7 am cricket on Saturdays from about 6 to 9. He resented it only on exam weekends. The rest of the time it was the best part of his week, and he was the one waking us up.

Could you ask about a later batch on Sunday? Even a different coach might be fine at that age.

  sunday batches near us fill up with exactly the parents who had the same idea. we've been on a waitlist since july.
