Still playing weekend doubles while pregnant, and my partners treat me like glass

I play badminton every Saturday and Sunday morning. My doctor is fine with me carrying on with what I'm used to for now. The problem is the group. Since I told them, nobody smashes at me, my partner runs for every shuttle on my side, and one uncle keeps asking if I should be sitting down. I like playing and I don't want to stop before I need to. Did any of you keep up a sport while pregnant? How did you handle the people around you?

Played table tennis well into my pregnancy, sixteen years ago, and my mother made it a family matter. Everyone has an opinion and very few of them are medical 😄 Keep playing as long as your doctor is fine with it.

I kept playing till my doctor told me to scale down. After that my partner and I did slow singles drills on Sunday mornings instead of matches. Kept the routine, lost the fuss.

i stopped my running group early because they asked how i was every 200 metres. the asking was more tiring than the running. if your group can't stop, maybe pick one or two people to play with instead of the whole lot

That matches my experience exactly. My research group cancelled my field trips without asking me. Being protected was never the problem; not being asked was.

      Replying to @citrus_pool_9816

      yes, that's it. being asked.

Tell them what your doctor said, once, in one sentence, and then play normally. If you keep explaining, they keep worrying. People take their cue from how much you talk about it.

Fair. Next game is Saturday, I'll try the one-sentence version and see if it holds.
