son has asked me not to send our snacks for his class birthdays anymore

we run a small snacks business, and for years i've sent a box for his birthday at school and for his friends' parties. this year he asked me, quite politely, to just buy a cake like everyone else. he says he isn't embarrassed. he says the other kids keep asking him for discounts. i've been trying not to take it personally for three days now.

Discount requests, of course. My grandson went through something like this when his mother started baking cakes from home: one boy in his class kept placing 'orders' through him. He was 8 and did not enjoy being the middleman. Let him have the plain cake this year. He'll probably be asking for your snacks again in a few years.
