Our backup for class 3 is Glendale in Bandlaguda. How do families pick between its CBSE and IGCSE sides?

pebble_fern_7907

Our first choice for our daughter's class 3 next year is the school her brother attends. Glendale on the Bandlaguda main road is ten minutes from home, so it is the sensible second option, and I want to understand it properly before we need it. They run both CBSE and IGCSE. The brochure makes both sound excellent. What I'd like to know is how families choose at class 3: does the choice matter yet, can children move between the two later, and what does an ordinary week look like on each side? Experience from either board is useful, even from other schools.

Ours is still a baby, but I have the same doubt long term: can they switch boards later inside the same school, or is that a whole new admission?

I teach in an IB school, so this is from the international side. At class 3 the difference in daily work is small; both will feel like primary school. The paths really separate around class 8 or 9, when IGCSE leads towards A levels or the IB diploma and CBSE towards the Indian class 11 and 12 route. So the real question is the later one: do you expect her to finish school and go to college in India? If so, I would lean CBSE, especially with her brother already on that route. Which board is your son on?

From the maths side, at class 3 the content is close. The difference shows later, in how much is examined through unfamiliar problems versus set question types. I would ask the school a plain question: in class 9, how many students are on each side? The answer says more about how the two sections run than any brochure.

We are near only, Chandrayangutta side. I don't know the IGCSE part. My son is 9 and every week his school complains he can't sit still. If I was choosing again I would first ask any school how they handle a restless child, before board or anything. For us that matters more.

We chose the international route for our daughter and it has suited her, she likes the coursework style. But I'd be honest about the practical side: fewer tutors around if she ever needs help, and you have to think about how colleges here look at it later. Good that you're looking into it early ❤

We picked for both our kids around the older one's school calendar. Same holidays, same exam weeks, one set of early mornings. With a daughter in high school and a son in primary, it saved me a lot of juggling. Worth checking whether Glendale's calendar matches her brother's school.
