Our 3 month old yawns every time my father starts one of his stories

ivory_sandal_2449

Not when my mother talks. Not when I talk. Only when my father settles into his chair and says 'when I was posted in Jabalpur...' He has started noticing. Yesterday he told the baby the story anyway and timed it. Four minutes to the first yawn.

Give it fifteen years. My daughter still does this to me, except now there's eye contact.

The eye contact is the worst part. Mine adds a slow nod.

As a grandfather with long stories of my own, I take this personally. My grandson did the same at that age. He's four now and asks for the stories by name, so tell your father to keep going. The audience improves.

Same with my son and his baba's stories when he was small. Now he is five and he wants one every night before sleeping.
